Why Wilinks?

Jira issue links are powerful, but they are often difficult to manage consistently at scale. Standard links rely on manual linking, offer limited context during selection, and are hard to validate or constrain.

Wilinks turns issue relationships into structured data by allowing teams to create configurable custom fields that reference other issues. Instead of manually searching and linking issues, users can select them through a controlled field that supports JQL filtering, contextual search, and configurable display.

This approach provides several advantages:

Consistency: enforce structured relationships between issues through custom fields instead of ad-hoc linking.
Better discovery: search related issues using their fields (status, assignee, priority, etc.).
